The Associations of Builders and Contractors(ABC) hosted the 2009 Excellence In Construction Awards Banquet in Greensboro, North Carolina where EHG won an “Excellence in Construction Merit Award”. Over 400 ABC members and attendees from all over the Carolinas was present in support of EHG. The 2009 winning project was the demolition and abatement of Cavalier Apartment Complex located on Chantilly Blvd, Charlotte, North Carolina. This apartment complex had been vacant for years due to several rounds of flooding by Sugar Creek.The units were being torn down to 
make way for a new park for the County of Mecklenburg. The project consisted of the abatement and demolition of 191 apartment units as well as the demolition of 140,000 sq. foot of asphalt. EHG was also contracted to do erosion control and cut a 60 foot wide 9 foot deep 2000 foot long swale. EHG performed waste management for Mecklenburg County. EHG maintained a 77% recycle/salvage rate for the project and created a strong partnership with Habitat for Humanity. During the project, EHG worked over 6,200 man-hours incident free in a high-risk environment. Despite the aggressive schedule and the constant threat of flooring, EHG finished the project on time. The EHG project team was there to receive the award along with the President, BJ Fungaroli and Senior Vice President, Brian Sanders. Ryan Wathen, the 2009 President of ABC and Vice President of Rodgers Builders presented the award.
